Whether you like to cut a rug doing the ol' Shag, or an more metro-style disco is your scene, or if you just want a fun place to take your kids for dinner, there are plenty of choices along the Grand Strand to choose from. Although called the Redneck Riviera, you'll be happy to find a good diversity of nightlife, something for everyone.
Nightlife in North Myrtle Beach
- Alabama Theater The Alabama Theater shows live comedy theater and music, located at Barefoot Landing. Their main show is called One, the Show, which is a mix of comedy and vivacious music and lots of energy. The theater was created by the country-rock band of the same name, Alabama.
- House of Blues Also located in Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, the House of Blues is your best bet for catching live big name acts. They feature both local and national live shows. Sunday mornings are special at the House of Blues, where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast and listen to live gospel music.
Nightlife in Myrtle Beach
- Dixie Stampede Dolly Parton went all out to create this dinner/entertainment experience centered around Southern music and patriotic images. For admission of around $35 you get a four course meal and super Dixie entertainment. It's located at Highway 17 N and Highway 17 Bypass.
- Carolina Opry This Opry showplace is located near Dixie Stampede, at Highway 17 N & Highway 17 Bypass. The Carolina Opry is a mix of gospel, comedy, drama, rock, and Broadway, and the central theme is good times in the name of Jesus and the good ol' U. S. of A. It was created by another music personality, Calvin Gilmore, in 1985, and it is wildly popular.
- Palace Theatre The Palace is located at 21st Ave N & Highway 17 S, or Broadway at the Beach, and tickets are around $15 and up, depending on what act you are there to see. Acts are Broadway style, a la Myrtle Beach, very lively and lots of singing and dancing. Their well-known acts are titled Carolina Jubilee, Spirit of the Dance, and Broadway. This kind of gives you an idea of the style of entertainment found at the Palace Theater. Lots of fun!
- Legends in Concert Legends in Concert is located at 301 Highway 17S, which is three miles south of Myrtle Beach. Here you can catch all the world's most famous entertainers in one place, on one night. Of course you have to pretend they are actually the real thing, since of course they are impersonators, but you won't have a hard time convincing yourself since these people are experts at copying the likes of Cher, Elvis, Garth Brooks, and more. The show is flashy and over the top, but would you expect anything else?
- Medieval Times & Dinner Show This is for families, and it features a cleaned up slice of Medieval life, as seen through the eyes of developers with sanitized family entertainment in mind. Nevertheless, it's fun and your kids will probably love it. There is an arena that seats over a thousand people, and for the price of admission you get a four-course meal, banquet style, with no silverware, and a live show. Before you enter the banquet hall, you will pass through the Hall of Banners & Flags as well as the Museum of Torture. There are actual horsemen, knights, sorcery, swordplay, Falconry, everything Medieval you could ever hope to see before dinner.
- Echelon Like to dance? Like flashy lights and a digital video show to back you up while you cut a rug? Echelon is a disco-style dance club with laser graphics and three floors of dancing, urban style.
- Indigo Lounge Also part of the 2001 complex, Indigo Lounge is where you can go to chill out, lay back in plush seating, and have some cocktails. You can also dance and play billiards if you get your energy up from the chill level.
- Razzies Beach Club Go to Razzies to get full flavor of the Shag culture. You can listen to golden oldies and dance the famous dance from the golden oldie era of beach dancing. The music is live, and the Shag is one of Myrtle Beach's most famous exports, or contributions to modern culture.
